Technical Trainer – STEEL MAKING PROCESS METALLURGY & QC

General Summary:

Responsible for providing Steel Making Process Metallurgy & QC related technical trainings to UAE National new joiners and enhancing metallurgical knowledge of existing UAE Nationals working on shop floor. This position specializes in capability development for Steel Making Process Metallurgy & QC jobs to help improve the relevant knowledge and skills.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Key Accountabilities):

  • Responsible for designing & preparing of technical training programs related to Steel Making Process Metallurgy & QC
  • Prepares technical trainings and designs modules and skill specific Technical programs that can be delivered to the identified employees after approval of the department Head.
  • Prepare training materials for Modular Technical Training Programs.
  • Prepare training materials for Career Aspiration Programs & manage CAP for SMP
  • Prepare training materials for Steel Challenge competition by World Steel.
  • Submit the training material for review and approval of department Head
  • Plan the program with weekly schedule and conduct theory classes and practical sessions.
  • Conduct quarterly assessments and embed results in Learning progress reports
  • Prepare pre-test, post-test and conduct the assessment before and after the program

Additional Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintain record of attendance of trainees and post in shared folder
  • Coordinate with other trainers and Training Coordinator for the training programs.
  • Support other trainers if required especially in designing, developing and preparing various training & support curriculum for the technical talent development .
  • Coordinate & support TCD activities if required in case of delegation by TCD Head & report to TCD – Advisor

Heavy Sections / Sheet Piles Expert

General Summary:

To review the operational process data for Rolling of Sections / Sheet Piles on a regularly basis, analyze and evaluate the efficiency and quality of rolling. Analyze failure details and root causes, evaluate functional and technical activities of the rolling mill, suggest engineering improvements and follow up for the implementation. In addition suggest new ideas / Technologies to enhance plant and process performance (quality, production, maintenance, safety etc.). Develop the required research and development initiatives related to Section and sheet piles process.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Key Accountabilities):

  • Review production reports of Heavy Section Mill for Rolling of Sections/Sheet Piles on a regularly basis review data logging of the process parameter to increase efficient output. Analyzes failure details and root causes, evaluates functional and technical activities.
  • Describe process limitations, parameters and correctness of Rolling of Sections/Sheet Piles production for updating, modifying and improving systems
  • Prepare a Weekly report of Heavy Section Mill with gap analysis and recommendation to reach benchmark/design production rate.
  • Assess implementation of operational procedures covering all areas of Rolling of Sections/Sheet Piles activity so that all relevant procedural requirements are fulfilled
  • Conduct data analysis and prepare action reports on a range of production performance & technical areas/issues in order to ensure that the management has the necessary information to support decision making.
  • Identify “Top Ten” key areas of Rolling of sections/Sheet Piles process.
  • Technical analysis of Heavy Section Mill (Rolling of Sections/Sheet Piles) output in alliance with company objectives to ensure efficiencies and effectiveness of production in terms of time, errors, product conformities and documentation
  • Ability to review roll pass design and suggest areas of enhancement to improve yield & productivity.
  • Follow up new projects/modifications as per the company Strategy Plant.
  • Carry out technical due diligence of various plants/ facilities and submit reports with comments for the Management for taking decision on acquisition.
  • Identifies & proposes opportunities of engineering improvements for His / Her concerned area of expertise and supports follow-up for the implementation.
  • Develops the basic engineering information for the implementation of small projects, according His / Her area of expertise.
  • Organizes / conducts activities of R&D inside the Company and advises / follows up eventual opportunities for the protection of Intellectual Property on the related achievements.
  • Conducts feasibility analyses to evaluate / support opportunities of investment for the expansion / renewal / improvement of the Company plant facilities & equipment.
  • Represents the Company in local and international events, delivering presentations and building relations with external partners, including academics
  • Collects information and updates about the cutting-edge technologies participating to exhibitions and conferences in the Country and overseas.
  • Conduct data analysis and prepare action reports on a range of production performance & technical areas/issues in order to ensure that the management has the necessary information to support decision making.
  • Monitoring & investigating about fulfillment of health safety & environment standards.

Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities (attributes) required:

  • Detailed knowledge of Rolling of Sections/Sheet Piles/beams operation and Rolling mill equipment, Rolling simulation and Pass design.
  • Sound knowledge of Quality Control in Rolling of Sections and Sheet Piles.
  • Must have experience in Attending Customer Complaint.
  • Detailed knowledge of quality aspects of various steel grades
  • Analyzing and Problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work for a collective output in a cross functional, highly interactive and flat structure

  • 12-20 years of experience in own area of specialization.
  • At least 7 years’ operational experience in Rolling of Sections & Sheet Piles in particular
  • At least 2~5 years’ experience in the field of R&D for Sections & sheet piles.
  • Strong theoretical background
