Facility Field Operator

Husky is currently looking for an experienced Facility Field Operator to join their Western Canada Operations at the Sand Cavern Facility near Lloydminster, SK/AB.  Reporting to the Supervisor, this position is accountable for day-to-day operations of the facility and ensures it is run in a safe, efficient manner while maintaining the necessary production requirements.  This role demonstrates Husky’s policies, values, regulatory compliance and the operational integrity program.

This position is based out of Lloydminster, SK and the successful candidate will be required to reside in the area.

Core Responsibilities

  • Operate the facility in a safe and effective manner, while working collaboratively as part of the operating team.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot all area-specific equipment to optimize performance to meet production targets as per Husky guidelines.
  • Perform condition monitoring including sampling and testing per area responsibilities. Complete area operations records. (e.g. volume balances, log sheets, work permits and required reports)
  • Support operations performed maintenance activities aligned to the site’s operating philosophy. Support on-site maintenance contractors by communicating Husky requirements, policies and procedures, while leading by example.
  • Provide assistance, coaching, on-the-job training and assessments to new employees as required.
  • Participate in the development and review of Safe Operating Procedures. Follow safe operating and chemical handling procedures and ensure environmental impact is minimized.
  • Participate in the site Health and Safety Program. Report all near misses and incidents. Participate in incident investigations, as required.

Experience

  • Asset:
    • 5 – 10 yrs experience in operation of oil processing equipment and all associated processes and systems.
    • 5 – 10 yrs experience in equipment isolation in preparation for maintenance.
    • 5 – 10 yrs experience in safe work permitting and hazard analysis.
    • 1 – 2 yrs experience in a control room setting
    • Experience in oil and gas industry, pulp and paper, or plant process experience
    • Proficiency with computerized operating systems such as PLC, DCS, or SCADA
    • Experience using Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook, SAP, Salesforce and PVR (Production volume reporting)
    • Basic understanding of safety and regulatory standards and procedures

Education, Professional Designations, Certifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 4th Class Power Engineering Certificate
  • A valid, clean Class 5 Driver’s license is required.    For this position you will be required to maintain a Class 5 driver’s license, a satisfactory driving record, and adhere to the appropriate Company policies and guidelines.  A Driver’s abstract will be one of the background checks requested in the Pre-employment Screening for the final candidate.
  • Asset:
    • Gas Process Operations (GPO) / Production Field Operations (PFO) levels A-D / I-IV
    • Oil & Gas Process Operations (OGPO) levels 100-400
    • Petroleum Technologist diploma or technical diploma from a recognized technical college

Working Conditions:

FCC/Coker Control Operator

Job Summary

The Control House Operator reports to the Process Shift Supervisor and is responsible for the safe operation of the Lima Refinery by remotely monitoring and controlling refinery processes and equipment, as well as all protective and utility systems. The Control Operator works a 12-hour rotating shift schedule and is required to adhere to department-specific workplace attire and grooming guidelines.

Core Responsibilities

  • Closely monitor, control and optimize the remote operation of the assigned process unit(s).
    • Follow written procedures and management instruction.
    • Monitor plant process parameters and make adjustments to process conditions as per set values to maintain optimum rates and product quality.
    • Adjust temperature, pressure, level, flow rate, and/or transfer of all materials to maintain processes at required levels and correct variables.
  • Perform safe, reliable operations to meet production targets, by monitoring process variables & equipment parameters to identify abnormal conditions and carry out appropriate changes.
    • Ensure all process parameters are maintained within the unit safe operation limits (SOLs).
    • Ensure plant safety protection controls are functional at all times.
    • Ensure compliance with refinery temp, flow and pressure specifications/configurations of Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS).
    • Make certain unit alarms are maintained at correct values based on alarm rationale process.
    • Maintain a clean and safe work environment including active participation in monthly Safety Meetings, Audits, and HAZOPS as required.
  • Recognize and understand issues, problems or opportunities and determine whether action is needed.
    • Gather and interpret information from a variety of sources and take action that is consistent with the refinery operating plan.
    • Troubleshoot operating problems without direct supervision and instruction.

Field Operator

Husky is currently looking for an experienced Field Operator to join their Resource Play Operations near Grande Prairie at Husky Kakwa location.  Reporting to the Sr Supervisor, this position is responsible to operate and maintain equipment/wells and ensure it is run in a safe, efficient manner while adhering to all safe work practices.

Duties and responsibilities will increase as individual becomes qualified and competent in assigned tasks.

This position is based out of Grande Prairie and the successful candidate will be required to reside in the area.

Core Responsibilities

  • Operate and monitor oil/gas wells, satellites, compressors and pipelines (i.e. daily field checks, pigging, well testing, pump checks, troubleshooting)
  • Perform and document required monthly regulatory and safety checks
  • Issue work permits and maintain care and control of well sites during maintenance activities to ensure work is executed in a safe manner in compliance with safe work practices
  • Participate in the site Health and Safety Program. Report all near misses and incidents. Participate in incident investigations, as required.
  • Complete training and competency plan as per Husky and site requirements.

Experience

  • Asset:
    • 1 – 3 yrs experience in operation of oil well equipment and all associated processes and systems.
    • 1 – 3 yrs experience in equipment isolation in preparation for maintenance.
    • 1 – 3 yrs experience in safe work permitting and hazard analysis.
    • Experience in oil and gas industry
    • Proficiency with computers (experience using Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook, SAP, and a field data capture system)
