AMWAJ Catering Services Company was incorporated towards the end of 2006 with paid up capital of QAR 100m under the direction of the Deputy Prime Minister, Chairman and Managing Director of Qatar Petroleum at that time, as a fully owned subsidiary of Qatar Petroleum (QP).

In forming AMWAJ, Qatar Petroleum planned to have a professional hospitality service provider, specifically geared to Oil & Gas sector contracts, working to the highest International standards. During this initial phase, AMWAJ was supported by two consultancies, KPMG from Doha and the Russell Partnership from the United Kingdom, who are leading international catering industry specialists.
